(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Tehran's provisional Friday Prayers Leader Hojjatoleslam Kazzem Sediqi said that the ongoing unrests and protests in Britain are outcome of the problems which Britons created for the world in the past.
"No one thought that the UK, which was once the standard bearer of colonialism and arrogance, would be the target of public wrath this way. The UK events are the reflection and outcome of the challenges and problems which Britons created for the world in the past. And today, flames of the challenges have hit the British people themselves," Sediqi said, addressing a large congregation of people on Tehran University campus today.
He stressed that present developments and events in Britain are sign of the West's collapse.
Unrest has rocked Britain in a scale unprecedented in 30 years following the police's killing of black male Mark Duggan in a shooting spree in the London suburb of Tottenham last Thursday.
Tension erupted on Saturday, when a few hundred people gathered outside a police station in Tottenham to protest the killing.
The protests have spread to major cities like Birmingham, Liverpool, and Bristol.
Five people have reportedly died and hundreds of others have been arrested so far.
